The most common problem with team uniform orders is not the design, it is sizing. A youth player ordered an adult size, or a women's player sized in a men's cut. Here is how to get it right the first time.
Youth, men's and women's are different cuts
Youth sizes are built for kids and are usually listed with an age range. Men's (unisex) sizes run larger and straighter. Women's cuts are shaped differently through the chest and waist, so a women's medium is not the same as a men's medium.
How to measure
- Chest: lay a jersey that fits well flat and measure armpit to armpit. Compare it to the half-chest measurement on the size chart.
- Length: from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hem.
- Shorts: measure the waist flat and compare to the half-waist.
When in doubt, size up
Players grow during a season and performance fabric fits close. If a player is between sizes, the larger size is usually the safer choice.
Avoid mixing youth and adult sizes
On our team stores, choosing Youth only shows youth sizes and choosing Men's or Women's only shows adult sizes, so parents cannot accidentally pick the wrong one.
